Babydoll

Born premature and tiny - you fragile little mite
Will you still be here by morning -
or will I lose you in the night

I dried and tucked you under mummy's arm -
to keep you warm and safe from harm

Oh so small - but your mum knows you're there
It's the best place for you - safe in her care

You cling like a limpet - onto a teat
You tread and tread - with your tiny feet

Hold tight little baby - be strong and fight
And I will watch over you - all through the night

As each day goes by - and you are still here
My hopes build up - they deminish my fear

Ten days old - you are seventy three grammes
You, blissfully unaware - how happy I am

I don't quite remember - when I gave you your name
But dear little BABYDOLL - it suits all the same

Four weeks old - just look at you WOW!
It's hard to recall how tiny you were - now

Playing with litter mates - having fun
Chasing a toy mouse - just look at you run

You eat with such gusto - your tummy so fat
you'll grow to be enormous - if you carry on like that

At eight weeks I weighed you - guess what I found?
Dear little BABYDOLL - you weighed a whole pound!

We have visitors now - with kittens being booked
BABYDOLL you won the hearts - of everyone who looked

At thirteen weeks - kittens are leaving home
Some going in pairs - and some on their own

Will BABYDOLL be going - oh no not she
My precious little BABYDOLL - will stay here with me
